On May 30, 2025, the city of Malang warmly welcomed the seventh edition of Malem-Malem Publishing, a music discussion series by Massive Music. Held at Kotask Kaffe Co., the event drew in hundreds of musicians and songwriters eager to learn more about smart strategies in songwriting and monetizing their musical works.
The session featured two inspiring speakers: Franki Indrasmoro, Membership Manager at Massive Music Entertainment, and Fifan Christa, musician, songwriter behind ATLESTA, and founder of the indie label Popsyougood. The talk was moderated by Aria Baja, well-known as the manager of the producer trio Laleilmanino.
Together, they unpacked essential topics surrounding copyright, royalties, long-term income streams from songs, and how licensing works for films, advertisements, and digital platforms. The audience engaged actively, asking questions about the often misunderstood world of music publishing—especially the crucial differences between a music publisher, a record label, and a digital aggregator.
Beyond discussion, the event also highlighted Malang’s vibrant music scene with live performances by two local bands: The Rentenir and Renan. Both acts performed their original music, underscoring the importance of giving space to emerging local voices and original compositions.
After the formal session ended, participants had the chance to casually mingle with speakers and fellow songwriters—discussing ideas, exploring collaboration opportunities, and learning more about how Massive Music supports creators across Indonesia.
The success of Malem-Malem Publishing in Malang wouldn’t have been possible without strong local support from partners such as MFM Malang, Elfara FM, Kosmonita, Folkslokal, The Display Net, ZonaBiroe, TerpaparMusik, Kleb., KapanLagiMusik, SrawungMedia, and HookSpace.
Through Malem-Malem Publishing, Massive Music continues to emphasize that a song isn’t just an artistic expression—it’s an asset with long-term value. When properly managed through publishing and copyright systems, songwriters can protect their rights and generate consistent income from their works.
With previous stops in Bandung, Jogja, Jakarta, and Lampung, Malem-Malem Publishing continues its journey. See you at the next edition!
